Journey during pandemic from Navi Mumbai to Nanded.

Updated: Nov 25, 2021

“LIFE IS EITHER A DARING ADVENTURE OR NOTHING AT ALL”
  1. How were days under lockdown in Navi Mumbai unfolds?

We four used to live in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. Life was going normal! Our maid used to come at 7 o’clock. We three were doing 9-5 job, one was in medical college. Life was going well, I was enjoying every little moment as it was my first official job. But there is a saying that “there are always ups and downs in life” and that downhill situation had come. A microscopic super powerful virus has disturbed mankind, the effect of which continued until vaccination come up. We were just hoping for a good time to come, but for how long we didn’t know. We were not have information – what was happening in our vicinity, we were getting updates of rapid spread of virus in which our Mumbai was on the top in the list of positive cases. Even before nothing was made clear about the virus, it seems as if it was an exam in which the questions were out of the syllabus. As this was a totally hard time for everyone, this forced us to live with scarce resources. I that time, I learned basic cooking that helped us to cook our meal. After some time, we all got so frustrated that we were just imposing work on each other. It was time to decide what to do, as all the things were messed up and I made the decision to move home back. In my whole life, I didn’t stay at my home for more than a month in a year, but for the first time, I was missing my home.

  1. Managing Travelling.

Finally, after two months government started a little bit of relaxation and allowed traveling but with T&C. It was not the first time that I was doing Mumbai to Nanded on a motorbike, but this time situation is different. It’s like now or never. I manage to get the travelling pass and decided not to come back till the Vaccine came out. I packed all the stuff and managed to put it on my bike as i used to do it in old times. But before a day i was going to start my journey, I lost my motorcycle key. As all the shops were closed. Somehow, I contacted one and convinced him to come to my place and make a duplicate key as I needed to travel home the very next morning.

It took approximately 12 hours to get there because the roads were empty and markets were closed. Only essential services were in progress due to lockdown. Some people were travelling by commercial vehicles whereas other by private and those who don’t have any govt. or pvt. convenience facility were walking for miles on the roads. I just looked at the sky and prayed to God to strengthen those people and thank them that I have a vehicle to go Home. As stopping in-between was not so much safe, so I took juice, water and some cookies with me for the route. I started my journey at 6 AM in the morning, I was like I’m a free bird now, I lay with my Honda Hornet 160R. It was a wonderful morning after decades for me, I was so happy to be on the roads again. That time I opted for the Mumbai- Pune-Ahmednagar- Beed- Parbhani- Nanded route which was 550 KMS approx. The roads were barricaded and strictly checking was done by Maharashtra Police. They were only allowing those who were having proper Travel passes issued by the Commissioner of the District. Those who were from Maharashtra knew that the Mumbai-Pune expressway didn’t allow two-wheelers, so we need to take the old highway for it. But somehow, I forgot to take the route and went on the Expressway. Thanks to god that no-one stopped me there for using expressway on 2-wheeler. I didn’t rush over that route and was enjoying the route as it was 2 months, I didn’t take my motorcycle on a road trip.

I was just entered my district and there was a checkpoint, I did my formalities, they told me to quarantine for 14 days at my home and marked a sign on my hand to be quarantined. After that, I directly went to the Govt. Hospital of my village, I met the doctor and with his permission, I started my quarantine period in my village. There was an empty house I used to stay there for 14th days with the standard procedure. I was not allowed to meet my family as I had to make a proper distance from them. They used to give me food in a separate room from there I collected it with maintaining social distance. I was counting my days and waited when I would get a chance to go home and live with my family. Fortunately, my quarantine accomplished like a happy ending in the movie. My story – ‘The fight with coronavirus was ended.’
